Established in 2001, the Hip-Hop Collective (HHC) at the University of Florida was organized to bring 'true' hip-hop to the Gainesville campus. Along with its flagship event, Soul Cypher, HHC uses the arts of hip hop to bring awareness to the values of the hip-hop culture, social and economic issues and the values of creativity and innovation - principles and themes that the pioneers of the culture fought to express through their art.
